What tests do I need to take to get into college?
Most colleges will require a student to take a college entrance exam (the student can usually choose either the ACT or the SAT*) before the college accepts the student.
There are also huge scholarships offered at places like Auburn University simply for attaining a certain score on one of these exams and having a 3.5 high school GPA:
Spirit of Auburn Scholarships (for Class of 2014)
Presidential Scholarship

Time for the mythbusters.
Some people think the ACT and the SAT measure intelligence and cannot be studied for.
Guys, this is one of the biggest lies I've ever heard.
Not only can you study for the content that will be tested on the ACT and SAT, you can use simple tips and tricks to make it less stressful.
It's basically all a mind game, and confidence plays a huge role. Confidence is a learned skill, and I believe you can master it.
Knowing what test day is going to be like is the first step in preparing. Go to the "tests" tab above and click the test day button in the drop-down menu.
Practicing effectively means taking practice ACTs and SATs (go to the "practice" tab for books of these) in a setting that feels like a real test day. Keeping on practicing, taking those pretend ACTs and SATs, you'll get a feel for what it's going to be like. Knowing what to expect is a huge confidence boost.
Lastly, give yourself a fighting chance. I believe in you. Doing well on these tests may take some hard work, but it's not complicated.
To learn how to sign up for the ACT, SAT, and PSAT, go to the "register" tab.
With that, I welcome you to the Every Student Can webpage. Every Student Can is a Girl Scout Gold Award project based in Auburn, Alabama, and we're excited to have you here! Explore the webpage and tell us what you think.
Please check out the about the project page, too!
You can do it!

*Contrary to popular belief, almost all colleges treat the ACT and SAT equally. This includes Auburn, Alabama, Troy, and Huntingdon. Look it up for your colleges of choice!
