Hello parents and students who are organized and long-term planners!
The ACT and the SAT are used (most of the time interchangeably) as a major factor in admissions to most colleges and universities. The ACT and the SAT are both used as a major factor in admissions to most colleges and universities.
The ACT and the SAT are counted the exact same way by colleges, but each student should try both tests.
I have friends who vastly prefer the ACT, and I'm that girl who scores way, way better on the SAT.
You'll never know until you try each test.
The ACT and the SAT are really different, and it's best to take the tests in alternating years of school, or at least alternating semesters.
I recommend taking the October SAT the same year as your 11th grade PSAT (for more information, check out "the psat" under the tests tab).
A Possible Long-Term Plan
THIS IS BY NO MEANS THE BEST WAY OR THE ONLY WAY. It's just what I did.
10th grade: an ACT
11th grade: the October SAT and the PSAT
Spring semester of 11th grade or fall semester of 12th grade: Retake whatever test (ACT or SAT) you preferred.
