I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work. - George Petrie, The Auburn Creed
Auburn's Freshman Scholarships are two things: 1) based on GPA and SAT or ACT scores, and 2) AUTOMATIC! This means that, once students achieve the test scores required by the scholarship they want, THEY GET IT as long as they have a 3.5 GPA. No competition. Yay.
Automatic scholarships are absolutely AMAZING for your stress level. It's a huge weight off your shoulders not to have to worry about competing with other people and just to focus on achieving a quantifiable goal.

For scholarships based on the PSAT/NMSQT and National Merit (the largest academic scholarship Auburn offers): http://www.auburn.edu/scholarship/undergraduate/national-scholars.html
